Legacy

Education, conservation, culture, and community - the enduring impact of the Mattocks family

Our Vision

A self-sustaining farm which involves and benefits the Mattocks beneficiaries and local surrounding communities.

Our Mission

To be good stewards of the land, promote culturally and environmentally sensitive, and financially sustainable practices, to serve and educate family and community members, while honoring the cultural and historical wisdom of our ancestors.

Community Service

Mattocks Riverview Farms partners with United Way of Onslow County through a high tunnel lease - a growing facility that produces fresh food for the local community. This partnership reflects the family's belief that land is not just for those who own it, but for the communities it serves.

The family is working to establish an African American Community Collaborative to serve two rural communities, creating opportunities to share and partner in the farming experience. This initiative aims to engage and educate local rural communities around land management, stewardship, and sustainable practices.

Community Goals

  • African American Community Collaborative Establish a collaborative serving two rural communities with shared farming experiences, education, and partnerships in land stewardship and sustainable practices.
  • Fresh Food Access Through the United Way of Onslow County high tunnel partnership, grow and distribute fresh produce for the local community - putting the farm's land to work for the people around it.
  • Federal & State Partnerships Partner with federal, state, and local organizations and stakeholders to ensure the farm is managed in an environmentally sound and sustainable way, while creating positive community impact.

Additional community initiatives and partnership opportunities coming soon.
