Mattocks Farm Hosts the Longleaf and the Landowner Academy
This April, Mattocks Riverview Farms was a featured stop on the Longleaf and the Landowner Academy - welcoming roughly 30 landowners for a tour and a day of learning on longleaf forestry, estate planning, and building a team of advisors.
Named Longleaf for All Landowner Mentors
Constance Stancil, Joycelyn McKelpin, and Luther Turnbull Jr. have been named among North Carolina's newest Longleaf for All Landowner Mentors - recognizing their commitment to sharing knowledge with fellow landowners across the region.
Longleaf Pine Unit Harvested and Replanted
The farm's longleaf pine unit was harvested in 2025, then burned and replanted in longleaf in early 2026 - a living demonstration of sustainable forest management and long-term land stewardship.
Peggie & Major Family Educational Conference - September 6-7, 2025
The Mattocks family gathered for a two-day educational conference at the Hazel and Jacquelyn Mattocks Pavilion and the family homestead - covering sustainable forestry, USDA programs, estate planning, African American farming history, and capping off with the unveiling of the Peggie and Major Mattocks Farm Sign.
Designated a Model Farm by NWF and Longleaf Alliance
In 2024, Mattocks Riverview Farms was recognized as a model farm through a partnership with the National Wildlife Federation and the Longleaf Alliance - honoring our commitment to conservation and sustainable land stewardship.
54 Acres of Pine Planted with Longleaf Alliance
Working in partnership with the Longleaf Alliance and USDA NRCS, we have planted approximately 54 acres of longleaf and loblolly pine - a living investment in the land and in generations to come.
Constance Stancil Retires to the Farm Full-Time
After a distinguished career in public service, Constance Stancil has retired and returned full-time to Mattocks Riverview Farms - bringing her full attention and energy to the land, the trust, and the family legacy.
Spring on the Farm
Spring has arrived at Mattocks Riverview Farms. The high tunnel is producing fresh greens, the pine seedlings are establishing, and the wetlands are alive with migratory birds returning to the river corridor.
